IG TIPS, TRICKS AND STRATEGIES

  1. The images you post to your FEED are best output in the square 800 X 800 pixels format. Instagram will expect a landscape view image and display properly in the FEED but cut the image on your PROFILE.

  2. Consider your aesthetics. Less is more on Instagram. Little to no text on the images, unless it’s a quote.

  3. The only link is the one in your bio. Links attached with a FEED post will not be clickable. Direct people with your comments to click link in your bio for more information. Remember to consider the link in your bio to match the post… which is why we LOVE Linktr.ee

  4. Use local hashtags. Follow local hashtags and use local hashtags in your FEED posts and on your STORIES as fit. Many times you see accounts put them into the comment section to “keep their content cleaner” It really doesn’t matter that much :)

  5. Follow other local accounts and other local businesses and their followers to grow your targeted audience

  6. Use your Location when posting to your FEED and use the location sticker in STORIES often to connect locally.

  7. You can Tag accounts when you are uploading image to FEED, use the @ to tag them in comments and/or use the @METNION Sticker to tag someone in your STORY

  8. Double click on an image in your FEED to <3 favorite it. Favorite posts in your feed often to engage with your following and comment as necessary. When I am growing an account, I will do this daily and in access. When I am in “maintenance” with an account, I will do this a few times a week.

  9. Watch stories and send messages as necessary. Click on the right of screen to go to next segment of story, click to left of screen to go to last segment of story or swipe right to advance to the next account’s story.

  10. Choose Gear Icon in top left of creating a STORY to choose your story settings (settings stay for all stories, until you change)

  11. If you go to Edit Profile- Contact Options- There is an Added Action Option if you have an affiliated booking tool. This may continue to develop.

  • You will get more value posting to your STORY everyday than posting to your FEED everyday

  • Use your FEED to host your best content. Strongest quality images and/or short videos. 3-5 X/week

  • Use your STORY to engage and interact daily with your followers. Use a series of images and short videos to tell a quick “STORY” 2-10 Segments to your story, every day that you can

  • Embed your IG FEED Posts into email marketing campaigns, internal reception room broadcasting display, inside of a blog on your website. The actual embed code you will find in Instagram rarely works. I will take a screen shot of the IG post on a PC, paste into Paint, crop, save as an image and use where I want. If in email/web marketing, link the image to the original instagram post

  • Share YOUR FEED posts and other public accounts FEED posts to your story. Click the “paper airplane” icon under an image and then click “Add Post to your Story” You can even move it around, change the filter and add stickers, text and drawings to the story share.

HOW/WHY TO USE:

Right now, we really aren’t that sure. It hasn’t quite taken off that well amongst IG users as a whole.

BUT, a creative way we consider using it..

Because you can LINK to an IGTV video from your Instagram STORY..

You could tease something in a story and have them click over to IGTV for the content. When they do click over they are making a small commitment and taking a “yes/follower” action with you.

Content/Giveaway was the idea we conceptualized in the CCC Call this week.

INSTAGRAM STORIES

A string of vertical (portrait) sized images and short videos, under 15 seconds each, that seam together when watched in any given 24 hour period to provide your Instagram Account’s STORY. Accessible through your Homepage at the top of your mobile app AND on your profile by clicking your Profile Image.

They are creative, fun, quick, relevant, current and engaging. People do love STORIES on Instagram. It was able to copy Snapchat’s idea much more successfully than Facebook.

The Instagram Story options and stickers continue to GROW. We will share new things and how you can use them ongoing inside the Facebook Group.

SCROLL AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR ‘STORY CAMERA’ THE STORY OPTIONS AVAILABLE:

  1. Type- Create a TEXT graphic. Can change font and color options and add overlays

  2. Live- Only available for 24 hours, not easy to download your video after, doesn’t allow you to store to highlights (at least in this moment). Live does give you option to add in any viewers to your Live Video and then their followers will get a notification and will live in their followers stories

  3. Normal- Click once for image and hold down for under 15 second video footage. Switch camera view and add your overlays after you take.

  4. Boomerang- Very short video that replays forward and backwards

  5. Superzoom- Hold down to take a short video that will Zoom in on view. Continues to give more options for sounds and filters

  6. Focus- Brand New. Really cool, will focus on the Face(s) in shot and blur the background

  7. Rewind- Play short video in rewind

  8. Hands Free- Record a video less than 15 seconds hands free
